Sickhouse is een speelse kunstruimte die populaire media gebruikt om na te denken over de transformerende impact van de digitale cultuur. Sickhouse stimuleert kritisch experimenteren en collectief denken. Videogames, speelsekunst, films, sociale media en DIY-craft zijn de belangrijkste media die bij Sickhouse worden gepresenteerd, op interactieve manieren.

De programma's van Sickhouse en The Overkill Festival zijn met elkaar verbonden door een thematisch onderzoek dat reflecteert op sociale complexiteiten. Gedurende het jaar ontwikkelt het team, samen met makers en kunstenaars, een veelzijdig programma dat gebaseerd is op delen en samen beleven.

De fysieke ruimte van Sickhouse is een speeltuin, een bioscoop, een bar, een flexibele ruimte die informele, onverwachte en verrassende ontmoetingen mogelijk maakt. Sickhouse creëert ruimte voor artistieke programma's, maar ook aan de alternatieve verhalen van lokale bewoners, queer-gemeenschappen en activisten.

Sickhouse is het afgelopen jaar uitgegroeid van een evenementenorganisatie tot een structureel georganiseerde ruimte met vaste openingstijden, een jaarprogramma, meerdere samenwerkingsverbanden en nationale en internationale erkenning. Sickhouse werkt met een klein, toegewijd team en wil zich verder ontwikkelen op financieel en bedrijfsmatig gebied. Sickhouse heropent eind februari 2026 op een nieuwe locatie en is nu op zoek naar een hands-on collega met bedrijfsmatige, financiële en commerciële expertise.

 implementeert: je herziet en verbetert de bedrijfsvoeringsprocessen op het gebied van de financiële administratie, commerciële kansen en budgetbeheer, ter ondersteuning van de directie. Je implementeert duurzame en betrouwbare bedrijfsmatige en financiële procedures en werkprocessen. Je zorgt voor een inzichtelijke financiële administratie. 

Je hebt kennis en ervaring op het gebied van finance en control, weet hoe je een financiële administratie en budgetbeheer systeem inricht en betrouwbaar houdt.

Je kunt werken met Exact en bij voorkeur ook met Stager en POS. Je hebt een economische of financiële opleiding op HBO niveau of vergelijkbare werkervaring.

Je herkent commerciële kansen en geeft die samen met de directie en het team vorm.

Je spreekt en schrijft goed Nederlands en Engels.

Je draagt actief bij aan het vormgeven en bewaken van een veilige, inclusieve en stimulerende werkomgeving voor medewerkers, vrijwilligers en kunstenaars.


Naar keuze een freelance of loondienst contract voor 12 maanden met betaling/inschaling op basis van de CAO Kunst en Educatie en richtlijnen van de Zaak Nu Een brutosalaris (max. € 3.435 bij een fulltime-aanstelling). Indeling vindt plaats op basis van opleiding en relevante werkervaring.

Een belangrijke rol binnen een betrokken team op basis van gelijkwaardig samenwerken.

Een organisatie met ruimte voor initiatief, creativiteit en ruimte voor flexibele dag- en weekindeling.

Een werkplek waar artistiek denken en maatschappelijke impact samen gaan.

You could help us arranging the communication around our events: updating our website, managing social media (LinkedIn, Bluesky, Mastodon, Meta, YouTube), creating our monthly newsletter, designing posters, organizing our photo archive, and keeping track of our monthly program.

Sickhouse is looking for a communication intern

Sickhouse is re-opening in early 2026! :) After two years of nomadic programming, the question of physical space took a new meaning for the team, the artists and the community around Sickhouse. In a rapidly changing city like Enschede, with initiatives like 

, we realize that space is much more than a building, it’s political, social and cultural. Who has space? Who needs more space? What is a safe space? How do we relate to both physical and online spaces? And what does space mean?

This call is to invite an artist to reflect on and engage with these themes. We want to encourage the community to dream together about what space means to them, what they have, what they need, and what they can share.




We are looking for an artist whose playful practice involves community to critically engage with social challenges. From video games to role play, from rule setting to world building, from online channels to hybrid performances, we are looking for an artist able to collaborate with a local community in a reflection about space. The process, the collective sessions, the engagement of the people involved will be central to the project. You should be comfortable working with diverse communities and institutions and open to collaborating with others.

You’ve probably heard the fantastic news that we raised €38,338 to continue the renovation of our new location. Of course, we’re 

 with the results (almost literally), but of course, this is only one part of the muscle needed to make the new Sickhouse come alive.

Now that we’re back in the building, the real fun begins: we are tearing down old walls, removing insulation, reshaping rooms, and slowly giving form to the playful home we’ve been dreaming of.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10:00 to 17:00

We are over the moon because we did it!  We reached
